Gurbuz Aktas lived in America from 1985 to 1996 where he completed his higher education achieving a BA in Stage Art Forms, Ethnology of Dance and MA in Interdisiplinary Arts Education from San Francisco State University. He learned Argentinean Tango and International Latin from various wellknowen teachers in America while persuing his higher education. He performed in the Bay Area as well as toured until accepting a position at a conservatory in a university in Izmir, Turkey.

He has received his PhD in Theatrical Dance forms and became Docent in 2003. He has been working as a Professor at Turkish State Conservatory of Music, Department of Dance at Ege University, Izmir, Turkey. He was one of the founders of International Dancesport Comeete and was head of Judging Comeete under the Turkish Jimnastics Federation from1999 until 2003. He, also, is stil judging the dance competitions. He holds the a dancesport trainer’s certificate from the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education. He has written two books regarding dance training “Foundations of Dance Education-2003” and “First Step in to Dance-2006”. Besides being a full time professor at the conservatory, Gurbuz has been teaching private and open evening dance classes since 1996 focusing particularly on International Style Latin and Argentine Tango.

Nancy Rose Aktas, a native of New York , started her dance training at age 13 in modern dance, jazz, yoga and classical ballet, later to diversity into classical and folkloric forms of over ten countries. She was an instructor and performer of modern and ethnic dance in the San Francisco Bay Area of California. She later has added International Latin and Argentinean Tango to her training and continued her career as a teacher of both style in.
